Macro photography of medical products
It is very good to have received more SDI products to photograph. This time it was a large job with multiple products, sizes, and requirements.
Some of these products are quite small and require macro lenses and techniques to have all of the products in focus. The area in the acceptable focus on an image depends on the aperture and the distance to the object. The further away you are from an object, the larger the area around it that is in focus. The opposite is also true. You need to get your lens very close to the object for macro photos as the objects are very small. It limits the amount of what you can capture in focus with a single click.
There are some techniques to improve the area in focus. Sometimes I use a technical view camera that can change the plan of the image, sometimes I use a tilt-n-shift lens that can change the plan of focus of the lens and sometimes I use focus bracketing (focus staking). I think it is very important that most of the products be sharp. Have a look at these few images
These photos were taken and retouched by the commercial photographer Jose Aguiar in the Zoom Studio in Wantirna South – Melbourne.
