Taking the step to give up the security of paid employment and go full-time in a business you are passionate about shows commitment and confidence in your own abilities.

This is what Jose Aguiar did late in 2013 with his Wantirna South photography and video business, Aguiar Photography.

But Jose does have reason to be confident having already achieved accolades from his industry peers at the Australian Professional Photography Awards. In 2013 Jose won two Silver Awards, in 2012 he won three Silver Awards and in 2011 he won a Gold Award. He has also won other competitions in Victoria.

Jose started photography in Brazil more than 20 years ago. When he migrated to Australia he worked as a computer programmer and held other IT positions until 2012 when he gradually went back to doing what he likes best: photography.

Video projects started in 2012 and since mid-2013, Jose introduced promotional video/photo packages for musicians and other artists. Today, Jose specializes in the corporate and industrial market and has worked with many companies on location and in his studio, and covered numerous events.
